New year, new habits for you and your new (or old) dog!

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

A Yorkie mix puppy sits with back legs splayed, a soft expression on its face, and tongue hanging out. It is wearing a hat that says "Happy New Year!"
Cheers to the new year!

As usual, we are all making our New Year’s Resolutions. Instead of making far-fetched resolutions that you know you’ll never adhere to, why not make a life-changing resolution that is fun and fits your schedule….pledge to train your dog!

Puppies can start as young as 10 weeks in Puppy Social Hour (or as young as 8 weeks in private training at home), but dogs can start training at nearly any age. It’s not too late!

Calmer Canines group classes are held several days a week so there’s no need to clear your entire schedule for the next 2 months (unless you want to, because you can with our Unlimited Group Class Packages). Attend an Owner Orientation without your dog, show the proper veterinary records, and then jump right in! Have a rotating work schedule? Not a problem. Come on Tuesday this week, Sunday the next, and both days the following week! It’s up to you. Group classes are offered Saturdays through Tuesdays, and Owner Orientations are held every weekend (and occasionally on weeknights), so you can get started as soon as you’re ready.

Already got started with training, but need some fine-tuning? Instruction is always given to your dog’s skill level and you can move through the classes at your dog’s pace. We’ll never force you to move forward before your dog is ready, but we won’t hold you back, either. Calmer Canines offers early puppy socialization classes (problem prevention & social skills for puppies 10-16 weeks of age), AKC STAR Puppy classes (basic obedience & social skills for older puppies & adult dogs), Control Unleashed classes (intermediate/off-leash obedience), AKC Canine Good Citizen classes, and even group classes for reactive dogs. We’ve also got one hour seminars and workshops dedicated to particular subjects (such as stay, leash walking, nail trims and vet care, tricks, and even apartment living). Be sure to check the class calendar to see what classes and workshops are coming up.

Group classes aren’t your thing? Still not a problem! Private training can be done around your schedule with weekday, weeknight, and weekend times available. Calmer Canines even offers The Family Dog Private Training course designed specifically for families with dogs and kids!

The best part is, training your dog will reduce stress in the long run and will allow you to truly enjoy your dog for who he/she is, and you’ll have fun in the process! After all, isn’t that why you got a dog in the first place?

So what are you waiting for? Call 714-696-1DOG (1364) today for a free phone consultation to see what program(s) will work best for you and your furry friend! 2020 Update: In-person group classes, Puppy Social Hour, AKC STAR Puppy, Control Unleashed, and Canine Good Citizen classes are not currently available.
